Three things to set up before arrival: (1) brief BWA Yachting Croatia 72 h ahead with the provision list, dietary requirements, and a confirmed berth preference — they coordinate customs, suppliers, and dockside delivery; (2) reserve ACI Marina Split at least six months out for any July or August window, with Marina Kaštela as a hard-confirmed fallback; (3) if your itinerary touches Brač, Hvar, or Vis, build a Bura-day buffer into the menu and have a non-island substitute for every featured dish.
The warning. Split is the busiest charter port in the Mediterranean on Saturdays from May to September. ACI, Kaštela, and Lav all flip their clients in the same twelve-hour window. The airport road jams, METRO’s car park overflows, water-taxi rates double, and your delivery driver will tell you the truck is “30 minutes away” for three hours. Do the bulk run on Friday morning. There is no Saturday workaround.

📍 Open in Google MapsThe BriefWhy this port is different — and what to set up on day one.3 min▶
Port type: real city + serious daily market + wholesale ring road. Split is one of the rare Mediterranean ports where the daily fish market and the daily produce market are inside the historic walls, on foot, with no shuttle and no logistics gymnastics. The wholesale answer (METRO, Tommy hypermarkets) is fifteen minutes by van toward the airport. Pelješac for serious wine and Brač or Hvar for olive oil and lamb are a half-day commitment each, by ferry.
Three things to brief your yacht agent on, in writing, 72 h before arrival: (1) full provision list with brand specs where they matter, plus VAT regime — commercial yacht recovery only works if the agent invoices through the right entity; (2) dietary requirements; (3) requested berth and acceptable fallback. Croatian VAT (PDV)

Boutique independent agent. Useful when you want a single named contact handling your boat for the whole season rather than a shifting roster of duty managers. EN and FR fluent, 24/7. Pair with BWA’s network for the heavy customs jobs; LP for the day-to-day relationship and the small fast asks.

The Bottom LineIf you read nothing else.2 min▶
Split is the most workable city port on the Mediterranean. Three operational moves do 80% of the work: brief BWA Yachting 72 h ahead (and reserve ACI in January for any July–August window), do the bulk run at METRO Kaštel Sućurac on Friday morning before the Saturday charter flip eats the road, and walk the Ribarnica + Pazar before 09:00 while the growers are still selling and the fish hall is still cold.
Before you sail away, load Pelješac Plavac Mali by the case (Korta Katarina’s Reuben’s Private Reserve, Matuško Dingač), Brač Oblica olive oil — ideally the unfiltered early-harvest from Brachia or Sinovčić — Pag cheese, real pršut from a single producer rather than vacuum-pack from the chain, Hvar lavender for the dessert kitchen, and at least one bottle of homemade rakija from Pazar to give to the captain.
Avoid: any Saturday between June and September if you can plan around it (charter changeover gridlock); any Bura day for Brač / Hvar / Vis ferries (check pomorski-meteo.hr the morning of); any walk-up bid for ACI Split berthing in July or August (book in January or accept Marina Kaštela). And never promise a Sunday-arrival fish-driven menu without a frozen substitute — the Ribarnica is closed.
